Darrah Cooper Jewelers
Darrah Cooper Jewelers was opened in 1940 by Roland and Gertrude Cooper in the old Lake Placid Club property, and later moved to its current Main Street location just before Lake Placid hosted the 1980 Olympics. The Cooper family ran the store up until 1988, then sold the store to Tim and Deb Lennon. The current owners Briar Corelli and Allison Doty took the torch in 2020 to continue the Darrah Cooper tradition of showcasing a unique selection of jewelry and providing excellent customer service including repair and appraisal services. Briar had worked for the Lennon’s as the store manager for 19 years before stepping up to the big boss role. Ali joined the team as a 15-year-old high school kid with zero jewelry knowledge. That quickly changed as she became enthralled with all things sparkly. Ali went on to graduate from the Gemological Institute of America receiving her Graduate Gemologist degree, and FIT in New York City for Jewelry Design. The real star of the show is certainly Miss Fawn, who can be found casually lounging around the store, begging for some of Briar’s lunch, or overseeing Ali’s repairs in the shop.
