Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society

Address:
1144 US Route 9, Schroon Lake, NY

The history of the towns of Schroon Lake and North Hudson cannot be told without including the numerous settlers that settled in this region.  The history also includes the many places that residents and visitors have enjoyed such as former grand hotels and resorts, children's camps, traditional outdoor sports, tanneries, logging, mining, drag racing and tourist attractions.  These attractions include an old time western village park with classic rodeo and a snake serpentarium and so much more.

The Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society interprets that history and preserves it for the generations of children to come. Housed in a historical two story cottage located at 1144 State Rt in Schroon lake, the museum has a main floor with many exhibits that tell the stories of our region. We hope that you will have an opportunity to come and visit our museum, become a member, and join our amazing team of fun volunteers that love learning and sharing the history of our two great towns.

The Museum Offers:

  • Historically Accurate Exhibits telling the History of the Schroon Lake & North Hudson Regions
  • Adult and Children's Creative Programs
  • Genealogical and Historical Research Assistance
  • FREE Public Historical Lectures throughout the Summer

Genealogical or Research Assistance Appointments can be made by emailing the museum to schedule a time to meet with one of our staff.
